Baby Reflexology for Constipation and more!
Constipation, trapped wind, upset tummies; if your baby’s been through it, you’ll know how heartbreaking it is. I still remember googling in the early hours what to do, patting and rocking while my baby screamed in discomfort. I felt so helpless.
But then I turned to reflexology (I genuinely blame my sleep-deprived Mum-brain as to why I didn’t think of it sooner!)
As a reflexologist, I already knew how effective it can be — but when I started using it on my baby’s tiny feet, I saw just how much it could help with tummy troubles. A few minutes of gentle pressure on specific points made such a difference. She started to settle, her tummy seemed more comfortable, and the crying eased. Even now, I use reflexology on my toddler if she’s a bit “off” and it still works wonders.
Baby Reflexology for Constipation – how it works
Reflexology is believed to help the body to come out of the ‘stress state’ which can slow down our digestive system, so it is believed to help that. During reflexology we also stimulate points on the feet that correspond to the stomach and intestines. So people use it for
- Easing discomfort from gas and trapped wind
- Encouraging bowel movements if your baby is constipated
- Calm crying linked to colic
- Supporting overall digestion
This isn’t just something I’ve noticed at home. In my 1:1 clinic, I see babies with constipation, reflux and colic — and parents are often amazed at how something so simple can help (and sometimes pretty quickly). It’s gentle, safe, and easy to learn.
