Is sleep a nightmare for your family but you want a cheap and easy thing to help (that isn’t sleep training)?
As a Mummy to a toddler I remember what it’s like to feel completely exhausted and not really sure how you’re going from one day to the next. That’s when I started to use my reflexology training to help my daughter who now sleeps really well (but it wasn’t always that way!).

Baby, toddler and children’s reflexology isn’t just for sleep either, I have routines for issues such as teething, chest infections, tummy troubles and more (you can find those here).

With my reflexology routines I have unblocked ways to help my daughter and other babies, toddlers and children with short simple video guides. This takes all of the guesswork out and saves you time and stress.

Why better baby sleep (without sleep training) matters to me

To me, the strict sleep training or cry it out methods feel the opposite to what I wanted to do as a Mummy – I wanted bedtime to feel gentle, caring and safe. I know it works for some families, but for me, the idea of listening to my baby cry without being able to respond just didn’t sit right (and I think we would both just find it really upsetting).

Don’t make the same mistake I did with not using reflexology regularly from a young age – I still don’t know why I didn’t, I am a trained reflexologist and have a busy 1:1 clinic in Essex, but it just didn’t occur to me when I was on maternity leave and basically a zombie. I think to be honest it was that knackered Mum-brain that just wasn’t working properly that stopped me using reflexology. I don’t want you all to do the same thing as me and forget about reflexology!

When I started using reflexology, it made such a difference – not only to her sleep but also I think it made me calmer and she picked up on that. It’s also a lovely sensory activity and great way to build that bonding connection.

If you’re here because you’re searching for ways to get better baby sleep without sleep training, I want you to know you’re not alone. I’ve been in your shoes; I was often Googling at 2am how to help my baby sleep for longer (she was still waking up every 2 hours at about 9/10 months and it was exhausting) – that’s before reflexology.

What is baby reflexology (and how does it help with sleep)?

Reflexology is a gentle therapy that works on the feet (and sometimes hands or face), using specific ‘reflexes’ that link to different parts of the body. For babies, toddlers (and to be honest – to everyone), it’s incredibly calming because:

One beauty of reflexology is that it doesn’t need to cost loads of money, it’s cheaper than a sleep consultant (although I’m definitely not knocking those at all!) isn’t complicated, and gave me a sense of doing something proactive to help. It was a win-win.

It’s not just for babies either!

I started using reflexology on my daughter when she was a baby, and to be honest most people do associate reflexology with babies – but it is great for toddlers and children too. I love working on toddlers because they can tell you how relaxing they are finding it. My toddler now asks for reflexology at least twice a week because she loves it so much.

The benefits stay the same for our toddlers, especially when they are navigating all those scary things in the world such as starting nursery, preschool, those dreaded preschool vaccinations, or when they aren’t feeling 100% themselves.

Now, as a toddler, she still sleeps well (and so do we as a result).

Why parents love reflexology for better sleep without needing to use sleep training

One of the biggest things I hear from parents is how helpless they feel when their baby won’t sleep. Reflexology gives you something to do. Instead of just waiting and hoping, you have a gentle, nurturing tool in your hands.

Parents often tell me they love that:

And the best part? It’s completely natural, safe, and easy to try.

It’s not just for sleep

Although this blog is all about better baby sleep without sleep training, reflexology can support so much more. Over the years I’ve used it for:

That’s why I created my video guides — so parents don’t have to spend hours Googling and guessing. You can follow along with short, clear routines that you can start using straight away.

Why this works better than “quick fixes”

There’s a lot of pressure online about how babies “should” sleep. The truth? Every baby is different. Some sleep through early, some take years to settle. And that’s okay.

What reflexology does is help you and your baby find a calmer rhythm together. It doesn’t ignore their needs, and it doesn’t force you to leave them to cry. Instead, it supports their body to relax and rest more naturally.

That’s why I truly believe reflexology is one of the best ways to find better baby sleep without sleep training. Reflexology is gentle, respectful, and builds connection instead of stress.

Ready to try it?

If you’d like to give this a go, my Supporting Sleep with Reflexology (video guide) is the exact routine I used with my daughter. It’s short, simple, and something you can easily add to your evening routine (or anytime in the day to be honest).

You don’t need to do it perfectly, or in the same sequence – but those are the reflexes I work on for my daughter and the many little feet I’ve worked on now.

Final thoughts

Sleep is hard. I know firsthand how difficult it is when your baby just won’t sleep well. But there are gentle, affordable, and loving ways to make bedtime easier. Reflexology has been a game-changer for me and many other parents I’ve worked with.

If you’re looking for better baby sleep without using sleep training, this could be the tool you’ve been searching for. And who knows it might just become one of your favourite parts of the day, too.

FAQs

Does reflexology really help babies sleep?

Yes it does, and you don’t just need to take my word for it, there is research that confirms reflexology can help babies to sleep better. From my own experience as a mum, I’ve seen how just a few minutes of gentle reflexology can make a huge difference in my baby’s (and now toddler’s) sleep.

Is reflexology safe for babies and toddlers?

It is safe for any age, and pretty much anybody (unless they have chronic undiagnosed pain, a DVT or have had an injury to their feet – if so you would need to avoid that foot). Reflexology is really gentle, natural and safe for babies, toddlers and children.

How long should I do reflexology on my baby for sleep?

I tend to do reflexology for 1-2 minutes so it isn’t something you need to do for hours and hours. Just this short amount of time will have a benefit. My video guides show you these quick routines.

Do I need to be trained to do baby reflexology?

I have created the video guides especially for busy parents, so you don’t need to do specialist training to give reflexology to your little one – all you need to do is follow along with my videos. [You would need to go to college to learn for a year if you wanted to give reflexology to others and have the insurance to do so]
